Timber, good quality wooden frames look good in traditional homes. Hard woods, such as teak and oak are more expensive than soft woods but are also more resiliant. Timber frames are more prone to weather conditions sun and rain can take their toll swelling, shrinking or warping the frames, making the doors difficult to open or close and facilitating draughts. Stained or painted, wooden frames are high maintenance compared with aluminium or pvc.
Material, in some regions, certain materials are not compatible with the weather conditions. You need to decide on which material you want your front door to be made of and you will have to get the advice from the custom door manufacturer to find out which option will be best for your house. There are other reasons that people choose to change the front door but before making any arrangements, you need to check if the house can handle it structurally. Some architects use the front door as part of the structure of the house.
